Lillishield is designed to protect crops from heat stress using biodegradable and biocompatible materials. It was conceived after years of one-on-one work with farmers and it’s continuously enhanced with field data in a variety of productive contexts. By harnessing heat from sunlight, Lillishield deploys an innovative technology to cool plant surfaces without external energy, reducing thermal stress and enhancing crop productivity and resilience.
The versatile platform technology behind Lillishield will also support the development of multiple agricultural solutions, promoting agricultural sustainability while optimizing plant performance under extreme conditions.
Commercial Innovation
PhD. in Geography with a MSc. in Water Resources Engineering and over 20 years of on the ground experience developing climate adaptation strategies and technology transfer schemes with farmers. Mauricio has also built and strengthened ag-tech startups focused on climatic adaptation and supply chain optimization.

Ph.D. in Environmental Geochemistry with 10+ years of research experience in chemistry, plant physiology, and environmental science. Andrea’s work focuses on food safety and developing sustainable strategies to enhance plant health and resilience. She has published her work in 12+ peer-reviewed articles.
Lilliput Technologies was founded with the mission of helping farmers thrive in a changing climate by creating environmentally- and farmer-friendly technologies.
Inspired by the tiny but mighty Lilliputians of Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels", we harness state-of-the-art materials science and engineering at the micro and nanoscale to maximize positive impact for crops, farmers, and the environment.
After 16 months of technical and commercial derisking, we launched in May 2024 as a spin-out company from Deep Science Ventures with key investments from DSV and the Voyagers Climate Tech Fund.
We are registered in the United Kingdom and Costa Rica, where our R&D operations are strategically located. Our presence on both sides of the Atlantic provides access to a global network of commercial partners, markets, and year-round, cost-efficient product R&D and testing facilities.
